Placing Bets in Running on Horse Racing

We have only limited experience on live betting on horse racing, it's usually when we forgot to get our bet on before they left the stalls.

Anyhow, there are a couple of things that have already become apparent.

Its always a good idea to check the length of the race, if its under say six furlongs the race will be over pretty quickly and you might struggle to get the price you want.

Something else we have seen is that horses that weren't fancied before the race started are often still not fancied during the race, even if they are winning it - they aren't expected to stay the distance. This can last right up until they are racing down to the finishing post. We have seen the horse leading the race this close to the end be quoted at odds of around 20/1 on Betfair and go on to win - worth a couple of quid perhaps! Obviously this works best if you a TV next to your PC so you can monitor exactly what is going on.
