Betting on american football is pretty similar to 2 horse racing, most bookmakers give the outsiders a mythical lead, I will give you an example, last week I backed Green Bay packers with a -5.5 point handicap, alot of bookmakers deal on handicaps now to offer similar odds on teams instead of offering 1-8 and 6-1 respectively they can offer 10-11 on each team with the underdogs having a certain amount of points head start depending on the quality of the team, anyway back to my story I had backed Green Bay at 10-11 with a -5.5 point start meaning green bay had to score 6 points before taking the lead, I thought green bay would win by 10 points or more, 10mins into the first quarter Tennessee hit 2 tries and a field goal going 17 - 0 into the lead with me backing Green Bay -5.5 my team were 22.5 points down and I was thinking why did I put �550 at 10-11? I got the internet up and running PDQ and found I could back Tennessee in running at 1.30 so I thought I better steady the ship I had �1000 on to win me �300 and watched the game nervously hoping Green Bay wouldn't come back from there impossible position lucky for me Tennessee held on for an easy win and I only lost �250, so always be careful but live betting can be very handy because a couple of years ago I wouldn't have been able to back in running and would have lost a lot more, I gamble more now knowing I can back in running if things go wrong for me and carry out damage limitation.
